Samsung Galaxy S4 ReviewSamsung’s 2013 Flagship Phone

Samsung, the Korean electronics giant, has made another excellent flagship phone and once again, Samsung adds another member to their Galaxy S Family. Announced on March 2013 and released on April 2013, the much awaited flagship phone from Samsung is now available worldwide. This Samsung Galaxy S4 review will tackle every bit of information and specific qualities of this phone. Hopefully after this Samsung Galaxy S4 review; you will have a deeper understanding why this phone has acquired so much popularity in the market.

The phone uses a Micro-SIM and offers a quad band 2G Network GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and a quad band 3G Network HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100 which is good for people who are travelling between different countries because it offers a wide range of network options which means that users of this phone will always get a decent signal, It also supports 4G LTE Network however, it is market dependent.

Measuring at 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9mm and weighs approximately 130g, it boasts a magnificent screen, which is 5.0 inches at 441 dpi with a high resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It uses a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen capable of producing 16 million vivid colors and a scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The home screen has been customized by Samsung with its own TouchWiz user interface. The present android version in this Samsung Galaxy S4 review is 4.2.2 Jelly Bean but it can be upgraded to 4.3 Jelly Bean.

There is a 3.5mm jack present on top of the device for the use of a headset and at the back sits a loudspeaker, flash and the primary auto-focus camera which is 13 megapixels and is capable of producing high quality images with a maximum of 4128×3096 pixels. The 2 megapixel secondary camera can be found at the top of the screen and can be used for dual video calls. The primary and secondary camera features are: Dual shot, simultaneous HD video & image recording, geo-tagging, face & smile detection, touch focus, image stabilization and HDR.

Behind the back cover sits a 2600 mah Li-Ion battery and the internal memory options available are 16, 32 and 64 GB being the highest. There is also a microSD Card slot present that supports up to 64 GB of external memory (This is something that its competitor, the iPhone, lacks). Powered by PowerSGX 544MP3 GPU and an internal RAM of 2 GB with a Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A9 Processor, it can run any HD android games available on the Google store with ease.

In this Samsung Galaxy S4 review; data speeds for internet connection are up to HSDPA, 42.2 Mbps and HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps capable of EDGE and GPRS connectivity. It also supports WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual band, DLNA, WiFi direct and WiFi hotspot.

There are also 4 other variants of this phone aside from the base model, and listed below are their distinctive features:

SG S4 Active

It’s designed for outdoor enthusiast and is dustproof and waterproof up to 30 minutes.

SG S4, Google Play Edition

The only difference is the software. Instead of running TouchWiz interface, the Google Edition uses Android’s stock Nexus Rom which has “pure Google” visuals and the software updates are faster than non-nexus phones.

SG S4 Zoom

It offers a huge camera with 10x zoom capability.

SG S4 Mini

This is the miniaturized version of the original SG S4 and it is more compact but also has lower specs.

The S4 has impressed us in a number of areas. It is a stylish phone that you are not ashamed to pull out of your pocket, with enough processing power to handle any tasks you throw at it.

For those of you that are on the fence, undecided which Android phone to choose, the S4 ticks all the boxes.
